'This is not my voice', Supriya Sule denies BJP's allegations on Bitcoin audio clip

NCP-SP MP and Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule has refuted BJP's allegations linking her to the alleged “cryptocurrency scam”. He termed the audio clip presented by BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi as fake and said that his voice is not in it. Sule has also initiated legal action by sending a defamation notice to Trivedi.

Sule to take legal action against allegations Speaking after voting in Baramati, Sule said that after receiving the recording from media outlets, he immediately contacted the Pune Police Commissioner and lodged a complaint of cyber crime. He described the recording as “lies and fake” and called for a thorough investigation. Expressing confidence in his innocence, he said, “I have sent a criminal defamation notice to Sudhanshu Trivedi. I am ready to answer his questions anytime, anywhere.”

Sharad Pawar defends Sule, Ajit Pawar demands investigation

Senior NCP leader Sharad Pawar defended his daughter and accused the BJP of using unreliable sources to make baseless allegations. He said, “The person who made these allegations had to stay in jail for several months. Only the BJP can play such a trick.”

However, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Sule's cousin Ajit Pawar took a different stand. He confirmed that the voice in the audio clip was that of Sule and demanded an investigation into the matter.

BJP's claims and 'Bitcoin scam'

The BJP made these allegations based on claims by retired police officer Ravindranath Patil, who had accused Sule and Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole of using funds from a cryptocurrency fraud to campaign for the 2018 assembly elections in the state.

During a press conference, the BJP shared an audio clip, purportedly of a chat involving Sule and Patil. The alleged conversations contained details of transactions involving converting Bitcoin into cash.

Allegations made by retired officer against Sule and Congress

Former IPS officer Ravindranath Patil claimed that he was appointed as a cryptocurrency expert for an investigation in 2018, but was later arrested on fraud charges and spent 14 months in jail. Patil said Gaurav Mehta, a key witness, shared evidence implicating Sule, Patole and others in the case.

“The details of the cryptocurrency fraud came to light in the 2018 investigation. I now understand that I was falsely implicated,” Patil alleged. He said Mehta gave further details about the fraud and took Sule's name in the process.

Sule's challenge to BJP

Sule is firm and has challenged the BJP to engage in public debate or investigation. He stressed his willingness to cooperate with any investigation to prove his innocence.
