New Delhi:- The results of the exit polls for Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024 will be released on Wednesday 20 November. Voting will end at around 6 pm in both the states. Counting of votes for the assembly elections of both the states is to be held on November 23.
Voting for Maharashtra Assembly elections is to be held in one phase on November 20, while voting for Jharkhand elections is to be held in two phases. In Jharkhand, voting for the first phase took place on 13 November and voting is going on for the second phase on 20 November. Exit polls will be revealed after voting.
What are exit polls?
Exit poll is a survey which is based on interviews conducted with voters at the time of their exit from the voting booth after voting. However, election exit polls are not always accurate.
Sometimes the estimates of pollsters prove to be right and sometimes wrong. But they do give an idea of where voters might turn and what can be expected from the election.
The reliability of an exit poll depends on certain factors, such as the type of sampling method, margin of error, and voter honesty. Exit polls can often help us identify voter behavior.
When are the exit poll results declared?
According to the rules set by the Election Commission of India, news channels can release their exit poll results after 6:30 pm on Wednesday evening.
Under Section 126A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, it is said that exit polls cannot be conducted or broadcast until the last phase of voting is over. No person can conduct an exit poll during the period notified by the Election Commission in this regard nor can the result of the exit poll be published or publicized through print or electronic media.

Voting is underway for the Maharashtra Assembly elections, while counting of votes will take place on November 23. At the same time, the results of Maharashtra as well as Jharkhand assembly elections will also be revealed on this day.
