Redmi A4 5G has finally been launched in India. The company has launched this entry-level smartphone at a starting price of Rs 8,499. Initially, the phone was introduced during IMC 2024, and it attracted attention as it is equipped with Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC. This is the first entry-level smartphone to come with this chipset. It also has a 5,160mAh battery and a 6.88-inch HD+ display. Before we dive into the specs in detail, let's take a look at the price and availability of the phone.
Redmi A4 5G: Price and availability
Redmi launched Redmi A4 5G in India today at a starting price of Rs 8,499. It comes in two variants: 4GB + 64GB, which is priced at Rs 8,499, and 4GB + 128GB, which is priced at Rs 9,499. This phone will be available on Amazon, Mi.com and Xioami retail stores from 12 noon on 27th November. It is available in two color options: Starry Black and Sparkle Purple.
Redmi A4 5G: Specifications and features
Design and display: The phone has a round, shiny camera module on the back, a design similar to the Redmi A3 (4G), but with a glossier finish. Its frame is flat, with the volume and power buttons located on the right side. The A3 model had a fingerprint sensor integrated into its power button; Same is the case with A4. A 3.5mm headphone jack is provided on the top edge of the phone. Redmi A4 5G comes with a premium looking Halo Glass back design.
It features a large 6.88-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate that promises a smooth and fluid display experience. It peaks brightness of 600nits. Apart from this, the display is also equipped with eye protection technology. It has Low Blue Light, TUV Cirradian and flicker-free technology.
Processor: Redmi A4 5G is the first smartphone under Rs 10,000 that is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip. This is the only 4nm Snapdragon processor in this segment. Built on Samsung's 4nm architecture, this octa-core processor has two Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 2GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 1.8GHz. It is compatible with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, providing a strong foundation for performance. The device features the segment-best user interface, Xiaomi HyperOS out-of-the-box based on Android 14, which promises two years of Android updates and four years of security updates.
Camera: photoThere is a 50 megapixel primary camera. The dual-camera setup is equipped with AI features. Camera features include time-lapse, portrait mode, 10x zoom capability, film camera and more. For selfies and video calls, it has a 5-megapixel front camera.
Battery: 5Powered by a 160mAh battery, the Redmi A4 5G promises to deliver all-day battery life. Additionally, it has 18W fast charging support. The 33W charger is priced at Rs 1,999.
