Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on an official visit to Guyana. Here Modi will address a special session of the Parliament of Guyana. This is the 14th time he has addressed a foreign parliament. For your information, let us tell you that this is a record for the Indian Prime Minister.

According to a senior Indian Government official, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had addressed foreign parliaments seven times. Indira Gandhi addressed four times, Jawaharlal Nehru three times and Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Rajiv Gandhi addressed twice each. P.V. Narasimha Rao and Morarji Desai addressed foreign parliaments once each. Modi has addressed foreign parliaments 14 times so far, which is a record.

India's representation in continents
Since assuming the post of Prime Minister in 2014, Modi has addressed the parliaments of several continents including the US, Africa, Europe, Australia and Asia. Notably, he has addressed the US Congress twice, in 2016 and 2023. In 2014, he gave speeches in the parliaments of Australia and Fiji. In 2015, he addressed the British Parliament and later the Parliament of Mauritius. His 2018 address to the Parliament of Uganda was another highlight.

Apart from this, PM Modi has addressed members of parliament from countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Afghanistan.

Honored with Guyana's Highest Civilian Award
During his visit to Guyana, PM Modi met President Dr Mohammed Irfan Ali for a productive discussion which was described as “remarkable”. In a special gesture, President Ali conferred Guyana's highest civilian honour, the Order of Excellence, on PM Modi.

Expressing gratitude for the honour, PM Modi said, “I am deeply honored to receive Guyana's highest civilian honour. It is not just my honour, but a recognition of the 1.4 billion Indians whom I proudly represent.” Will do.”

The visit further strengthened India's diplomatic ties with Guyana and demonstrated Modi's global leadership.
