Male Sterilization Fortnight: Vasectomy is completely safe and easy, definitely adopt it after completing the family.
Male Sterilization Fortnight : According to physical structure, vasectomy is very simple and completely safe. It only takes a few minutes. Two-three days after sterilization, men can go to work comfortably. Therefore, men should not think that family planning or taking care of the family's health is only the job of women. In this they too should play equal responsibility and become partners in making women and children healthy and happy. With the aim of spreading this message to the community and increasing the participation of men in family welfare programs, Vasectomy (NSV) Fortnight is being celebrated from 21st November to 4th December. The theme of this fortnight is – “Start today itself, husband and wife should talk about family planning together.”

Mukesh Kumar Sharma, Executive Director of Population Services International-India (PSI-India) says that Vasectomy Fortnight will be celebrated in two phases. In the first phase, emphasis will be on public awareness, preparedness and identification of beneficiaries (mobilization phase) from 21st to 27th November and in the second phase, NSV services will be exclusively provided under the service delivery phase from 28th November to 4th December. For this, every necessary arrangement has been made from district to block level. Under the campaign, this message is being sent to the people that newlyweds should plan for their first child only after at least two years of marriage so that during this time the husband and wife can understand each other better and can provide better upbringing to the child. -Also raise some capital for maintenance.
Apart from this, for the better health of mother and child, there should be a gap of at least three years between the birth of two children. Before that, a woman's body is not capable of carrying another pregnancy and this is also very important for the proper nutrition and health of the first child. For this, the government has made arrangements for a basket of contraceptives i.e. “Basket of Choice”, through which one can easily plan their family as per their convenience by choosing the method as per their choice.
Despite the existence of the Basket of Choice, the situation of unwanted pregnancy does not seem fair from any point of view. Apart from this, getting pregnant too often is not good for the health of mother and child. In this way, by adopting contraceptive means, while women's health can be improved, maternal and child mortality rates can also be reduced. Family planning kits (condom boxes) have also been arranged at health centers so that men can easily get condoms or other means of family planning from there without any hesitation. It also includes pregnancy checkup kits and emergency contraceptive pills along with condoms.
