The U.S. dollar rose against the Vietnamese dong but remained steady against major peers Thursday afternoon.
Vietcombank sold the greenback 0.02% higher at VND25,504.
The State Bank of Vietnam hiked its reference rate by 0.02% to VND24,290.
Unofficial exchange points sold the dollar 0.19% higher at VND25,850.
The dollar has risen against the dong by 4.36% since the beginning of the year.
Globally the dollar paused its climb on Thursday as traders awaited more clarity on U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s proposed policies and sought to second-guess the prospects of less aggressive interest rate cuts from the Federal Reserve, Reuters reported.
The dollar index was down 0.11% at 106.49, but was holding onto most of the previous session’s gains after investors lifted the dollar index measure against its key rivals closer to a one-year high of 107.07 hit last week.
