Mohammed Shami rattles Sanjay Manjrekar from his reply, Check the details inside

Shami’s ire knew no bounds when he saw Sanjay Manjrekar take potshots at the bowler regarding expectations of him pulling a heavy bid in the IPL 2025 mega auction. This fierce competitor still remains a major purchase for Everyone in India, infrastructure and sponsorship inclusive, Shami hit back at Manjrekar who opined that the bowler’s price would be compromised after the auction. Manjrekar does not question that there will be many teams vying for Shami’s services, however, he does not expect that the bowler will be able to command a higher price of INR 6.25 crores which was the amount he fetched in the last auction by the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022.

“There will definitely be interest from teams, but given Shami’s injury history — with this particular one taking considerable time to recover from — there is always a fear of a breakdown mid-season,” said Sanjay Manjrekar during a segment for Star Sports.

“Should a team pay a significant amount, only for him to be lost halfway through the season, options are further narrowed. This might contribute to a decline in his price.”

“Baba Ki Jai Hooooo. Save a little wisdom for your own future. If anyone wants to know their future, do contact 'baba ji'), ” Shami wrote in an Instagram story, mocking Manjrekar.

Shami recently made his comeback to professional cricket after a long hiatus due to injuries. Since the 2023 ODI World Cup in which Shami topped the bowling charts, the pacer has not been active due to various injuries. He has managed to play a Ranji Trophy match for Bengal recently. He has shown significant strides in his rehabilitation and thus, the BCCI selectors were said to have been pleased. Still, the Board has decided against sending Shami to Australia.

Shami has put his name in the IPL 2025 auction of which the base price is Rs 2 crores. In 2022, he was acquired by Gujarat Titans for 6.25 crores.

Previously, PTI news agency reported, There was a possibility that fast bowler Mohammed Shami might return to international cricket during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but it can be pushed to the second half of the series. Certain sections of those individuals well placed in the matter have stated that the BCCI medical team and the national selectors wish to have Shami partake in a couple of further competitive matches, this time within the confines of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, simply to determine how much wear and tear his body can handle after a number of games, even though this regards a white ball competition.

“Bengal team for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will be selected tomorrow, Shami meant for Border Gavaskar Trophy, if not then he will be available for Bengal,” stated head coach Laxmi Ratan Shukla to PTI.

As noted, the selection committee does not want to gamble with Shami’s fitness by rushing him into the side after only one Ranji Trophy appearance following a lengthy rehabilitation period.

Despite having been out of competitive action for over a year, Shami who played his first competitive game for Bengal in his return match against Madhya Pradesh in Indore was in brilliant form and helped his side secure its first win of the season by taking seven wickets in the match.
