What is demisexuality?
Tulisa appeared on I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! During a conversation with one of his colleagues, he said, “I am not a very sexual person. For me, it's all about the connection and feelings I have with someone, which inspires me to express them in that way.”
According to The Independent, demisexuality is a sexual orientation where a person needs a strong emotional connection to feel sexual attraction. It falls under the asexual spectrum, where sexual attraction occurs less frequently or only under specific circumstances, such as the presence of deep emotional intimacy.
Emotional attachment is important
The term “demisexual” was introduced in 2006 by the Asexual Visibility and Education Network (AVEEN) to explain a middle path between experiences of asexuality and sexual attraction. This shows the preference of emotional attachment over physical attraction.
Many relationship and dating coaches say that demisexual people take time to develop relationships, but this does not mean that they are against physical affection. Demisexual people generally enjoy cuddling, cuddling, and sex when they are romantically interested in someone.
What is the demisexual population?
The time it takes to form an emotional connection varies greatly between demisexual people. For some people, this bond may develop quickly, while for others it may take years.

Although it is unclear how many people globally identify as demisexual, the 2021 British census reported that only 0.06 percent of the UK population identifies as asexual.
