IPL 2025 to start on March 14, dates for next 3 seasons revealed – Reports

New Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season is reportedly said to start in the middle of March. The IPL governing council has revealed tentative dates to all the IPL franchises for the next three seasons till IPL 2027.

According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, all 10 IPL franchises received an Email where the dates for next three seasons were disclosed by the IPL organisers as the window passage. The IPL 2025 is scheduled to start on March 14, 2025, and the final will be held on May 25.

The dates for IPL 2026 will be from March 15 to May 31 (in that year) and between March 14 and May 30 in IPL 2027, as per the report.

The IPL 2025 will go ahead with 74 matches instead of 84 matches as mentioned in the tender of media rights for the broadcasting rights from 2023-2027. The IPL governing council had promised the broadcasters to increase the matches to 84 for IPL 2025 and IPL 2026 seasons with the final season of this cycle (IPL 2027) to have 94 matches.

However, the BCCI was reportedly against increasing the matches in the next season with the Indian men’s team in contention to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) final.
