Social media reacts to KL Rahul’s ‘unfair’ dismissal in Perth Test

Indian batter KL Raul opened the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar series at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

Though Rahul found it difficult to score runs, he was still looking set on the crease. The 32-year-old played quite a sensible innings and almost made it to lunch. However just a few minutes before the conclusion of the first session, Rahul ended up losing his wicket to Mitchell Starc.

The batter departed after scoring 26 runs off 74 deliveries as India was left reeling on 47/4. However, the batter looked quite unhappy while walking back to the dugout and it was only a little bit later that the fans got to know the reason of his frustration.

Though the snicko meter did show a spike when the ball went closely past Rahul’s bat, it was later revealed that the spike was due to Rahul’s bat hitting his pad. However, the umpire didn’t overturn the on-field decision and made the decision to send Rahul back to the dugout.

Following Rahul’s dismissal, Indian fans went berserk on social media platforms and called out the poor umpiring decision. Many fans labelled the decision as ‘shameful’ and ‘ridiculous’.
