Hong Kong actress Elena Kong, 53, explores dating apps for ‘fresh start’ with men in 30s

During a YouTube livestream with actor Carlo Ng, Kong said that her curiosity about online dating was sparked after hearing about a friend who found “true love” on a dating app. “I was wondering, ‘Can you really find someone on it?'” she said, as reported by The Star.

Kong experimented with several apps for two weeks but decided not to pursue serious romance, opting to remain open to casual encounters instead. Joking about her approach, she told fans: “Do you think I’m looking for true love? I set the age range to 35 to 40 years.”

When teased about her preferences, including her attraction to muscular men, Kong responded enthusiastically: “Of course! I need someone who can invigorate me, bring me new energy, and a fresh start.”

During her experience, Kong encountered “catfishing” when a man’s real appearance did not match his profile photo during a video call. She admitted to using side-profile pictures and an alias herself to maintain privacy and avoid recognition, according to 8days.

After news of her dating app adventures surfaced, Kong received a flood of daily messages, many of which were very forward. Sharing one example, she said: “One guy wrote, ‘I’m 40, very fit! I’ll give you an unforgettable night’.”

Kong is a prominent figure in Hong Kong’s entertainment industry, known as an actress, radio DJ, and TV host. She began her career as a model before joining ATV in 1997 and later transitioning to TVB in 2009. Her notable works include films like “Lost in Time”, “Crazy N’ the City”, and “Sisterhood”, as well as the TVB series “Get on a Flat”.

Kong was previously married to Ng Kwan Cheung, the brother of actress Sandra Ng, in 2006. The couple divorced in 2018, and Kong has remained single since.
