Building bridges through parent workshops

Navigating the world of international education can be daunting for parents, with unfamiliar terms and new pedagogical concepts often proving overwhelming. To address this, ISHCMC organizes over 60 workshops annually, offering insights into its curriculum and teaching methods. Delivered in multiple languages, these workshops empower parents to actively support their children’s education while building stronger connections with the school.

Liaisons dedicated to Vietnamese, Korean, and Japanese families play a pivotal role, providing translations and guidance during conferences and workshops. They also act as cultural ambassadors, ensuring every family feels confident and included.

ISHCMC extends its support to parents through the Rhino Academy, an adult enrichment program offering classes in volleyball, languages (e.g., Vietnamese and German), and practical skills like obtaining a legal motorbike license. These programs not only help parents grow personally but also provide opportunities for families to form lasting friendships within the ISHCMC community.

ISHCMC’s vibrant cultural events highlight its diversity while fostering a sense of unity. Events such as the World Food Fest and the Flag Parade celebrate the diverse cultures represented at the school. The recent Rhino Family Fun Night, featuring games, art activities, and a performance by Saigon Soul Revival, brought the “Rhino” community together in a festive celebration.

ISHCMC’s commitment to global citizenship extends beyond its school grounds. Collaborations with organizations like Anh Chi Em social enterprise and events like the upcoming Festive Bazaar showcase the school’s dedication to the wider HCMC community.

The Festive Bazaar, scheduled for Nov. 30, promises a lively cultural experience. Attendees will enjoy local and international food, a festive market with toys and gifts, and activities such as family yoga, a roller disco, arts and crafts, and a scavenger hunt. A giant advent calendar raffle and a special ISHCMC heritage exhibition, featuring memorabilia and media from the school’s 31-year history, will be key highlights.

This free-to-attend event not only strengthens bonds within the ISHCMC community but also introduces newcomers to the school.
