Delhi Pollution: Delhi is suffering from pollution, NDMC started night cleaning campaign.
Delhi's air quality improved slightly after suffering from severe levels of pollution for a week, but it is still “very poor”. New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) vice-chairman and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kuljit Singh Chahal participated in the cleaning campaign early Friday and tried to reduce pollution by cleaning at night. In an effort to reduce pollution, he said the campaign aims to create a 'garbage-free NCDMC'.

During the campaign, he said, 'We have started cleaning at night. We are in Khan Market, which is one of the most famous markets in the world. People coming to Khan Market will now see clean roads and cleanliness around the shops. NDMC employees said, “We take inspiration from our Prime Minister and Home Minister to transform the city into a healthy, vibrant and extremely beautiful place.” He said that NDMC employees have started the initiative from Khan Market and aim to spread it to other areas of Delhi as well.

Kuljeet Singh Chahal further said that market associations are supporting this move, adding that night cleaning will bring a lot of improvement in the city. He also accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi government of failing to take adequate measures to clean the capital. According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPB) data, as of 8 am on Thursday, Delhi's air quality index (AQI) was 379, which was in the 'very poor' category.
According to CPCB data, at 8 am, AQI was 338 in Chandni Chowk, 370 in IGI Airport (T3), 355 in ITO, 354 in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, 387 in RK Puram, 370 in Okhla Phase 2, 381 in Patparganj, Sonia Vihar. 394 and 359 in Aya Nagar. All of them were rated 'very bad'. Although many areas of Delhi are still in the 'severe' category: 405 in Anand Vihar, 414 in Ashok Vihar, 418 in Bawana, 401 in Dwarka Sector-8, 413 in Mundka and 436 in Wazirpur.
