Chandigarh: In the by-elections held on four assembly seats in Punjab, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) performed brilliantly and captured three seats. AAP candidates won Gidderbaha, Dera Baba Nanak and Chabbewal assembly seats. Congress got only Barnala seat. These seats became vacant after the sitting MLAs were elected as MPs in the Lok Sabha elections 2024. Aam Aadmi Party made a dent in Gidderbaha and Dera Baba Nanak assembly constituencies, considered the strongholds of Congress.

Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Waring's wife Amrita Waring had to face defeat in the hot seat of Punjab, Gidderbaha. AAP's Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon defeated him by 10,729 votes. After the victory in Gidderbaha, Hardeep Singh Dhillon said that everyone has worked hard. He was able to win only because of the people. 14 candidates were in the fray for Giddarbaha seat. However, the main contest was between BJP candidate and former minister Manpreet Singh Badal, Amrita Waring and former MLA Dimpy Dhillon. 81.90 percent voting took place here.

Counting of votes of Gidderbaha assembly constituency took place at Government Senior Secondary School, Gidderbaha. AAP's Ishank Chabbewal wins in Chabbewal. In the by-election of Chabbewal assembly constituency, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Dr. Ishank Chabbewal won by a huge margin of 28,582 votes. Is. Dr. Ishank is a young face in Punjab politics and is the son of Hoshiarpur MP Dr. Raj Kumar. Ishank Kumar defeated Congress candidate Advocate Ranjit Kumar. After being elected MLA, Ishank Kumar said that this is not his victory but the victory of the entire assembly constituency. People of the entire region have expressed their trust in him and he will not let this trust be broken. Dr. Ishank said that whatever promises he made to the people during the elections will be fulfilled.

On this occasion, his father Rajkumar Chabbewal also expressed his gratitude to the people of Hoshiarpur and said that he will never forget this honour. He has also given advice to his son Ishank. He said that this time the victory has been in the name of Raj Kumar, but next time he will have to achieve this victory in his own name and with his hard work. Youth leader Ishank Kumar Chabbewal got a total of 51,753 votes, while Ranjit Kumar of Congress got 23,171 votes. Apart from this, BJP candidate Sohan Singh Thandal got 8667 votes.
