Drama serial Yahya finale sparks mixed reactions
The mini-drama series Yahya, which wrapped up its run today on Geo TV, has sparked varied reactions among viewers.
Directed by Shehrzade Sheikh and written by Saira Raza, Yahya was produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi. The drama featured an impressive ensemble cast including Khushal Khan, Madiha Imam, Marina Khan, Behroz Sabzwari, Ismat Zaidi, Farhan Ally Agha, Tara Mahmood, Zara Tareen, and several others.
The plot of Yahya follows the life of a young man, Yahya, who is the only brother in a family of four sisters.
Played by Khushal Khan, Yahya shoulders many responsibilities, adding complexity to his character. In the final episode, which aired today, Yahya decided to marry Milli, rejecting a proposal from his sister-in-law’s family, bringing the series to a satisfying close.
The conclusion, while joyful, left some fans disappointed. Although many appreciated the drama’s happy ending, others felt that Yahya’s career aspirations were underexplored, particularly his ambition to become a cricketer, which they hoped to see more of.
Some viewers criticized the show’s portrayal of family dynamics, with a few arguing that the story reflected outdated views on gender roles, where daughters were seemingly sidelined.
Additionally, Zara Tareen’s performance in the series received widespread praise, with many viewers describing her scenes as emotionally moving. Despite the positive feedback, the series’ abrupt ending left a sense of dissatisfaction among fans, who wished for a longer format to explore the character’s journey more deeply.
