Bhubaneswar : Industrialist Gautam Adani's business group Adani Group has been under questioning target for the last several days. Now news is coming that this group had bribed the then government of Orissa to get the power deal. However, there was a Biju Janata Dal government in the state at that time, which has termed this allegation as baseless. Odisha's former ruling party Biju Janata Dal has rejected the allegation of taking bribe from Adani Group.
Refuting these allegations, the party has also presented its clarification. Biju Janata Dal has said that the state government officials have not taken any bribe of any kind from Adani Group. In fact, allegations are being made that Adani Group had bribed state government officials to get the agreement to supply renewable energy to the state. Biju Janata Dal was in government in Orissa from 2000 to June 2024.

State government has nothing to do with it
Former Energy Minister of Orissa and BJD MLA Pratap Kesari Dev has issued an official press release on behalf of the party regarding this incident. It has been said in this press release that the allegations leveled against the then Orissa government are baseless and not based on facts. Orissa government has nothing to do with this contract. Whatever deal was done for power purchase, it was done between the Central Government Venture Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited i.e. SECI and the State Government PSU GRIDCO and the Distribution Company. The state government has no role of any kind in this. However, the state administration was informed about the power sale agreement.
Allegation of bribe of 265 million dollars
The US Securities and Exchange Board, under the US Justice Department, has accused the Adani Group of paying a bribe of $ 265 million to the state government to get power contracts in India. Not only this, Adani Group has also been accused of giving bribe to the governments of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh. Under this, yesterday the former government of Andhra Pradesh and former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy have also been accused of taking bribe for awarding power contract.
