Harshit Rana and Mitchell Starc involved in a funny banter

Mitchell Starc warns Indian fast bowler Harshit Rana who had bowled a bouncer to him while Australia was batting in the first innings of the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in the ongoing series. This incident occurred in the morning session of the second day’s play at Optus Stadium in Perth. Teasing Rana, who scalped two wickets so far from the match, Starc was heard saying, “Harshit, I bowl fast than you. I have a long memory.”

Rana is playing his international debut match at the moment. Ravichandran Ashwin presented him with his fist Test cap. Harshit claimed his first Test scalp on Friday (November 22) after accounting for the wicket of Travis Head. The 22 year old cricketer from Delhi went through the defenses of Head and even disturbed the bail.

Rana got rid of Nathan Lyon on Saturday morning for his second wicket of the match. Head, who no. 10 went out to bat for the hosts, was plucked out from sash by KL Rahul.

Jasprit Bumrah who is also the captain of the Indian team in the match is the one who has been bowling well, so far. The right arm fast bowler took 4 wickets on Day 1 and completed his five wickets by taking the wicket of Alex Carey on the very first ball of his spell on the second day. To date, Bumrah has dismissed five Australian batters, which helped him reach fifty wickets in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. WTC 2023-25 saw him however become the first fast bowler and third Indian bowler after R Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja take 50 wickets in a single cut of WTC.

Bumrah registered his first wicket in the match by getting debutant Nathan McSweeney LBW and then went on to dismiss Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith in the very next over. The Indian captain also took the wicket of Pat Cummins, the Australian captain in the last phases of the day where he was caught behind by Rishabh Pant.

Besides Bumrah and Rana, Mohammed Siraj has also taken two wickets so far.
