Virat Kohli’s tremendous century in Perth, broke Don Bradman’s record; Sachin Tendulkar also left behind
Virat Kohli 100 against Australia in Perth test: Virat Kohli has scored another Test century in Australia. Kohli, who was out after scoring only five runs in the first innings of the ongoing first Test in Perth, scored an unbeaten 100 runs in the second innings. Kohli faced 143 balls in his innings and hit two sixes along with eight fours. As soon as Kohli completed his century, India declared its second innings at the score of 487/6. Kohli made an unbeaten partnership of 77 runs in just 54 balls with Nitish Reddy for the seventh wicket.
Virat Kohli overtakes Don Bradman
Kohli has scored the 30th century of his Test career and has left Sir Don Bradman behind. Bradman has scored 29 Test centuries in his career. In his 119th Test, Kohli has left behind Bradman who had scored 29 centuries in only 52 Tests. He has equaled Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Matthew Hayden who have scored 30-30 Test centuries in their career.
Kohli is still behind Joe Root, Steve Smith and Kane Williamson in the current Fab-4. Smith and Williamson have scored 32-32 centuries in Tests so far. Root is currently leading with 35 centuries.
Kohli went ahead of Sachin Tendulkar
With this century, Kohli has left behind the great batsman Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin has scored six test centuries in Australia. Kohli has now scored his seventh Test century in Australia. With this, Kohli has become the Asian batsman who has played most tests in Australia. Earlier this record was in the name of Sachin.
Kohli has scored this seventh century in the 27th innings of 14 Tests. Sachin had scored six centuries in 38 innings of 20 Tests. In the list of Asian batsmen who have scored the most centuries in Australia, Indian batsmen occupy the first four places. Apart from India, no batsman from Asia has been able to score more than three Test centuries in Australia.
