IPL 2025 Auction: Who got whom as Day 1 wraps | Read

Pant received a groundbreaking bid of Rs 27 crore from Lucknow Supergiants (LSG), just after Punjab Kings (PBKS) secured Iyer for Rs 26.75 crore.

Shreyas, who captained Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to victory earlier this year, and Delhi Capitals’ (DC) standout player Pant both gained from entering the auction after leaving their previous teams.

While Pant and Shreyas were anticipated to incite bidding wars, Venkatesh Iyer was the day’s biggest surprise, being bought by KKR for Rs 23.75 crore.

Venkatesh, an integral part of Shreyas’ championship-winning KKR team, was reacquired by his old team for an impressive Rs 23.75 crore after they chose not to retain him before the auction. The opening day saw a flurry of crorepatis as numerous uncapped players were in high demand towards the end.

The first day of the thrilling mega auction saw 72 players, including 24 from overseas, sold for a total of Rs 467.95 crore. Only four Right To Match (RTM) cards were utilized, and up to 12 players did not receive any bids.
