5 Most Expensive Uncapped Players of IPL 2025 Auction

While the marquee players were the most talked about for most of the day, a few uncapped players coming into the later sets grabbed the limelight.

The first day of the IPL 2025 auction has been done, and it was as intriguing as expected. There were record-breaking bids, intense drama, and cash flowing all around.

While the marquee players were the most talked about for most of the day, a few uncapped players coming into the later sets grabbed the limelight. Several quality players were on sale, and teams spent wholeheartedly to own them.

We look at the five most expensive uncapped players on Day 1 of the IPL 2025 auction.

Rasikh Salam Dar (RCB)

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) took a weird approach on the first day of the IPL 2025 auction. They didn’t bid aggressively for most top players and let them go. However, they still went aggressively for Rasikh Salam Dar and got him for a big INR 6 crores after Delhi Capitals (DC) decided not to use RTM after the escalated price.

Rasikh is mostly a new-ball bowler who can operate effectively in the first six overs and be a solid death-over bowler because he has a good yorker and slower ones. Despite being inexperienced, he will be a long-term investment, which was a key reason behind acquiring Rasikh for such a hefty sum.

Plant Man (MI)

Naman Dhir started a bidding war between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru before Delhi Capitals (DC) stepped in. Later, Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) joined in before Mumbai Indians decided to use RTM and get him back for INR 5.25 crores.

Naman is a solid pace-hitter who can be flexible with his batting position and bat anywhere between No.3 and 6. Further, he is naturally an aggressive batter who can bowl decent off-spin.

Abdul Samad (LSG)

Abdul Samad was the third-most expensive uncapped player on Day 1 of the IPL 2025 auction, earning a whopping 4.20 crores from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). LSG were clear with their plans and went for him right from the start, and while two teams came in between, LSG eventually got him.

Samad is a solid pace hitter who bats in the lower order and provides impetus to innings in slog overs. His recent years haven’t been as encouraging, but his obvious talent tempted LSG to pursue him.

Nehal Wadhera (PBKS)

Punjab Kings (PBKS) were among the most active teams on the first day of the IPL 2025 auction, and one of their crucial picks was Nehal Wadhera. They purchased him at INR 4.20 crores after competing with as many as three teams, named Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Gujarat Titans (GT), and Delhi Capitals (DC).

Wadhera is among the finest domestic talents and is equally capable against pace and spin. Being a Punjab player, he will know the conditions in Mullanpur and might finally unleash his true potential.

Ashutosh Sharma (DC)

Ashutosh Sharma was a revelation last season and was bound to fetch a decent sum in the IPL 2025 auction. He was sold for INR 3.80 crores, with Delhi Capitals (DC) getting him amidst three other teams bidding for him.

Ashutosh is a clean ball striker who can take on pacers at will from the first delivery. His presence will provide DC the much-needed firepower to the lower order who can give that final flourish in the end overs.
