- Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole on Monday rejected the rumours surrounding his resignation following the party’s poor performance in the assembly elections, emphasising that the defeat was a matter of “collective responsibility.” Patole made these statements after a meeting with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, where he expressed that the election results did not truly reflect the sentiments of the people of Maharashtra. He further stated, “Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) was led by Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and other national and state leaders during the elections. We were confident that the trends were in favour of MVA, and even the public shared this belief.”
- Hours after the AAP announced the addition of 80,000 new pension beneficiaries in Delhi, the BJP swiftly countered with a pledge to provide universal pension coverage for all senior citizens if they are voted into power in the upcoming Delhi elections. On X, the BJP criticised the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) announcement, calling it a “political sham” and accusing AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal of making the statement instead of the proper administrative bodies. The BJP further promised that if they win the Delhi elections next year, all elderly citizens would receive an old-age pension on demand, covering 100% of the elderly population. The AAP has yet to issue an official response.
- Two family members died and two others fell ill after consuming roasted chickpeas in Barwala village, Narsera area, in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district, officials reported on Monday. The incident took place on Sunday evening, according to Assistant Food Commissioner Vineet Kumar. The family had bought chickpeas from a local market, and shortly after eating them, they began to vomit. Kumar stated that Kalua (45) and Golu (8) passed away soon after, while the other two family members who fell ill are currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Odisha for three days from November 29 to December 1. During his visit, he will attend the all-India conference of Director Generals of Police and Inspector Generals of Police in Bhubaneswar. This will be the first time the conference is being held in the Odisha capital. According to state Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, the Prime Minister will arrive in Bhubaneswar on the evening of November 29 and stay until the afternoon of December 1.
- The Kharga Corps of the Indian Army successfully conducted a two-day integrated field firing exercise, ‘Kharga Shakti,’ at the Mahajan Field Firing Ranges starting Sunday. The exercise focused on testing and validating the effectiveness of combined arms operations in a simulated battlefield scenario. Lieutenant General Rajesh Pushkar, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Kharga Corps, reviewed the exercise, which aimed to enhance operational capabilities in a real-time combat setting.
- On Monday, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha conducted an on-site inspection of the Tawi Riverfront project in Jammu, reviewing its progress. He announced that the first phase of the prestigious project would be completed by January next year. The Tawi riverfront, being developed on the lines of Gujarat’s Sabarmati riverfront, aims to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the water body, improve its natural purification capabilities, and promote sustainability in both environmental and urban infrastructure.
- The Manipur government has extended the suspension of mobile internet services for two more days in nine districts, until November 27, as per an order issued by the Home Department.
