Kriti Sanon talks about nepotism in Bollywood at IFFI: ‘If you are talented…’
New Delhi: The showbiz industry is one arena where the debate on nepotism remains rampant. Time and again, cinema lovers have discussed this issue and even bashed stars born with a silver spoon. But what does an outsider who has made a name in Bollywood feel about it? Recently, actress Kriti Sanon shared her thoughts on the matter and expressed that the industry itself is not entirely responsible for it.
The 34-year-old diva, speaking at a celebrated event, said that she has felt warmly welcomed in the industry since her arrival. However, she acknowledged that it takes time to make one’s mark when coming from a non-film background.
Calling the journey ‘a bit of a struggle’, Kriti explained that it takes time to get the opportunities one desires and even to appear on magazine covers. However, she highlighted that hard work eventually changes the game.
Kriti also believed that the industry alone cannot be blamed for nepotism. She distributed the responsibility among the media and the audience as well. She mentioned that viewers tend to align more toward star kids because they are interested in the stories the media presents about them.
The Heropanti star explained that the industry simply responds to audience interest by casting star kids. She concluded by saying, “If someone is talented, they will get there eventually.”
