“Obviously, he will walk in…”Kl Rahul drops a massive statement on Rohit Sharma’s comeback in the Test team
KL Rahul seems to be having a doubt when thinking about playing the next test match in Adelaide. This was inspired by his good innings for India in Perth Tests, where he did not show the signs of a player because of his fear of being dropped for the next match. He was the only Indian batter who could score 26 and later 77 in both innings. There is no guarantee he will make it into India’s XI for the second match in the series. The reason that would lie behind such fear would be the arrival of captain Rohit Sharma again.
At least, that’s what would seem from the concept that now Rohit Sharma joined the Indian team in Perth after having missed the match when his baby boy was born a few days ago. But, the essence being, he is the captain of the Indian team, and comes in unfailingly.
Rahul was the opener along with Yashasvi Jaiswal in Perth Test due to Injury to Rohit, but would have to make way for the skipper.
On the subject of team changes ahead of the game in Adelaide, the most convincing Rahul had no reservations regarding Rohit entering the line-up without any questions asked.
“Obviously, he will walk in. He is the captain. We will have to wait and see. I’m sure the captain and the coach have it sorted in their heads. We are just focused on today. At the moment, we will try and get the seven wickets that are left and think about Adelaide when it comes and hopefully get a chance in Adelaide.,” Rahul told 7Cricket.
In case Rohit opens innings for India, then it may be possible that Rahul is given a place in the middle-order. But here’s the catch, Shubman Gill is going to be back anyhow. The No. 3 batter is expected to be fit for Adelaide Test also. If in case there is another inclusion of this player in the squad, then it will become a tough moment for the management to choose between so many options.
In Gill’s absence, Devdutt Padikkal brought the No. 3 spot while Dhruv Jurel attains the No. 6 spot, replacing Rahul, in the middle order.
Rohit and Gill are back, Padikkal, and Jurel are indicated to be dropped from the XI.
