We used a rare Infrared technology for ‘Hyraanaa’ song

The next single of Ram Charan starrer Game Changertitled ‘Naa Naa Hyraanaa’ will be released on Thursday, November 28. Ahead of the song release, director Shankar and music director Thaman S talked about the making of the song in a candid conversation.

Talking about the new techniques he used to shoot the song, Shankar stated, “It’s a romantic song. And when someone is in love, everything looks different, even the colours. So I thought, ‘why not shoot this in Infrared?’ I dont think anybody used this photography style in our movies. All colours go in different way, and there is some magic in it.”

Further talking about the song shoot, Shankar recalled his DOP S Tirru being both excited and nervous about the song. The director added, “Tirru was more worried about the possible technical problems, like capturing artists’ skin tones. But when we saw location through Infrared, it was so dreamy the way colours changed. I hope audience also likes it.”

At this point, Thaman recalled his own set of innovation that he brought for composing the song. The Guntur Kaaram composer added, “When you showed the photos, I thought how to use burnt tones, which can be camouflougy but sound mellifluous once on audio. So I used two monotones, to create a stereo effect. I reverbed the whole left and right sections, and brought a new tone. Because of you, I got a new music programming idea.” Shankar also praises Thaman for his use of tabla in this song, and for beautifully fusing a western sound and carnatic touch for the composition.

Game Changer marks the first collaboration between Shankar and Thaman S. The much awaited political thriller is set to release on January 10, 2025.
