Le Hong Minh, founder of gaming giant VNG, has again become the company’s chairman after a two-year sabbatical.

Vo Sy Nhan, who took over as chairman from Minh in early 2023, resigned on Saturday for personal reasons, according to a company release.

Minh had been the chairman and CEO of VNG since the company’s founding in 2004 before resigning at the end of 2022.

In September this year the company named deputy CEO Kelly Wong as acting CEO.

On Tuesday it relieved Minh from his position as CEO so that he can focus on his work as the chairman.

In the first nine months of this year VNG earned revenues of VND6.98 trillion (US$275 million) and a net profit of VND202 billion.

Online games have accounted for 70% of its revenues in recent years.

The company also operates the popular messaging platform Zalo and offers payments services.

It has 14 offices globally including in Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore.

In August last year it filed to list on a stock exchange in the U.S., but later withdrew the application.
