4 killed as 3 houses collapse after blast in Madhya Pradesh’ Morena; probe on
New Delhi: Three houses collapsed after an explosion, killing four people and leaving five others injured in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh at midnight.
According to the police, the blast occurred in Rathore Colony, which falls under Kotwali police station around midnight. The cops reached the site immediately after being informed and launched the rescue operation with the assistance of the municipal corporation.
City superintendent of police (CSP) Ravi Soner was quoted as saying by ANI that after getting information about an incident that occurred between 12 am and 1 am here, they acted on it. The police administration and the municipal corporation team swung into action, rushed to the spot and began the rescue operation, he added.
Soner said, “We are making efforts to complete the rescue operation as soon as possible. So far, we have recovered two dead bodies, and there is a possibility of two more people trapped in the debris of the house.” He also said that five people have sustained injuries in the incident and are undergoing treatment.
As per Morena superintendent of police (SP) Sameer Saurabh, the cause of the explosion is being ascertained, and an FSL team is on site. The exact reason will be determined after probe, he said.
What caused the blast? Gunpowder or gas cylinder?
Superintendent of Police Sameer Saurabh said that the incident took place in Rathore Colony area around midnight. He said that one of the deceased women’s body is being extricated from under the debris.
Vasudev Rathore, a man whose house collapsed due to the explosion and whose 28-year-old daughter-in-law was among the dead, suspected that the explosion occurred because of gunpowder.
During the removal of debris, LPG cylinders were discovered intact, Sub Divisional Magistrate Bhupendra Singh Kushwaha said. He added that the cause of the blast is still unclear.
He added that a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory will find out whether the explosion was caused by gunpowder or a gas cylinder. A doctor at the Morena district hospital pointed out that the injured people have been transferred to Gwalior for further treatment.
