Supreme Court: SC rejected the petition filed against EVM, demanded to implement paper ballot voting system
Supreme Court rejected the petition: The Supreme Court has refused to hear the petition filed against EVM and has rejected it. The petitioners had filed a petition to implement the paper ballot voting system. The petition came before the bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice PB Varale, on which the bench made it clear as soon as the hearing started that the bench would not consider it.
The petitioners argued that leaders like Chandrababu Naidu and Jagan Mohan Reddy had also raised questions on the use of EVM (Electronic Voting Machine). To which the bench replied that 'when Chandrababu Naidu and Sri Reddy lose, they say that EVMs have been tampered, when they win, they say nothing'. The petitioners were asked from what perspective this could be seen.

Example given from America and other countries
Emphasizing the issue of EVM tampering, the petitioners said that many countries use paper ballots. While suggesting that India should follow the practices of countries like America, the Supreme Court said that why should we follow other countries…? The Supreme Court made it clear to the petitioners that the court is not the forum to raise all these arguments. The petitioners stressed that EVMs are a threat to democracy. After hearing all the arguments of the petitioners, the bench dismissed the petition.
