The terrorist attack on Mumbai on this day shocked the entire country. 10 terrorists created such an orgy of barbarity and terror in different parts of Mumbai, whose echo is still heard in the hearts of people.
It has been 16 years since the Mumbai terrorist attack. On 26 November 2008, terrorists had entered Mumbai through sea route. After this attack, many steps were taken at that time regarding coastal security, but at present questions are being raised regarding coastal security. According to news reports, out of 23 speed boats brought for monitoring the sea, 14 are lying closed. These speed boats need repair and maintenance, but the contractor responsible for it owes Rs 10 crore. Due to which monitoring work is going on with only nine boats.

Pakistani terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba had planned this attack. On the evening of 26 November 2008, terrorists entered Maya Nagari through the sea. They attacked several places including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminal (CSMT), Taj Hotel, Oberoi Trident, Nariman House (Jewish Centre) and Leopold Cafe in a well-planned manner. The entire country was looking towards Mumbai with eyes full of sorrow and anger. In this terrorist attack that lasted for 72 hours, 166 innocent people were killed and more than 300 were injured.

The terrorists had killed many innocent people while firing indiscriminately at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) station. There is always a crowd at this station of Mumbai, after the attack there was chaos at the station. Apart from the deaths caused by bullets, a large number of people died due to the stampede.
Taj Mahal Hotel, This historical and prestigious hotel of Mumbai became the main center of terrorist attack. Big industrialists of the country and people associated with the film industry keep coming to this hotel. NSG commandos and security forces had to conduct a three-day operation to rescue the people held hostage here.
Nariman House (Chabad House), this Jewish center was also the target of terrorists. Here a family was taken hostage, but the terrorists were killed during NSG action. Leopold Cafe and Oberoi Hotel were the places where firing and bomb blasts took place, in which many foreign nationals were also killed.
NSG and Marcos commandos showed indomitable courage
In this attack, Mumbai Police, NSG (National Security Guard), and Marine Commandos (MARCOS) displayed indomitable courage and bravery. Policemen like Martyr Hemant Karkare, Martyr Vijay Salaskar, and Martyr Tukaram Omble attained martyrdom during this attack. Tukaram Omble played a key role in the capture of Ajmal Kasab, the only surviving terrorist of this attack.

The 26/11 attacks exposed the weaknesses of India's security system. After this, many major steps were taken to fight terrorism in the country, which include the formation of NIA (National Investigation Agency) and strengthening of coastal security. Ajmal Kasab was hanged under the Indian justice system, but the attack also showed how important international cooperation is to fight terrorism.
