Dhaka: Chinmoy Krishna Das, a religious leader associated with ISKCON in Bangladesh, was arrested yesterday. He has been accused of treason and disturbing the communal atmosphere. The Indian government has expressed displeasure over his arrest. India's Foreign Ministry said in a statement issued on Tuesday that we are concerned by the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das.
The Ministry of External Affairs said that “It is unfortunate that criminals are roaming freely, but cases are going on against the religious leader who raised the right demands through peaceful meetings.”

Hindus showered with sticks
Today the Metropolitan Magistrate of Chittagong also rejected the bail plea of Chinmay Krishna Das. During this time, the police fired tear gas shells and lathicharged Chinmay Prabhu outside the Chittagong Court on the people protesting for the release of Chinmay Krishna Das. Not only this, the police also fired rubber bullets to disperse the protesters.
Chinmay said continue the movement
During this, while coming out of the court, Chinmay Prabhu addressed his supporters and said that they should continue the movement as per the law. Let us tell you that a demonstration is going on in the capital Dhaka from tomorrow for the release of Chinmay. He was arrested by the secret police from Shahjalal International Airport yesterday. It is alleged that on October 25, a rally was taken out at Laldighi Maidan in Chittagong regarding 8-point demands organized by Natan Jagran Manch, during which some people hoisted the saffron flag on the Azadi Pillar at New Market Chowk. Aami Sanatani was written on this flag. Regarding this, Chinmoy Krishna Das has been accused of insulting the national flag.
ISKCON seeks help from India
Now ISKCON has appealed to India to intervene in this matter. Before India issued its statement on the arrest of Chinmoy Prabhu, ISKCON of Bangladesh had demanded India's intervention in this matter. He requested the Government of India to talk to the Government of Bangladesh to tell them that ISKCON has nothing to do with terrorism anywhere in the world. ISKCON has demanded the Bangladesh government to immediately release its leader. Along with this it has been said that they simply run a peaceful devotional movement.
