New Delhi : Hailing the election of Raunak Khatri as the new president of Delhi University Students Union (DUSU), Congress student wing NSUI national president Varun Chaudhary on Monday said that a “shop of love” has now opened in Delhi University and He thanked the students for standing with the Constitution.

Khatri defeated ABVP's Rishabh Chaudhary by over 1,300 votes, getting 20,207 votes while Chaudhary got 18,864 votes. The re-emergence of the Congress-backed student wing in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP)-dominated DUSU was celebrated.

After the victory, NSUI's Varun Choudhary, while speaking to the media agency, said, “We have won the election of DUSU president after seven years and also won the post of joint secretary. I think a 'love shop' has now opened in Delhi University. We thank the DU students who stand with the Constitution.”

Raunak Khatri said this

Raunak Khatri attributed his victory to the hard work and support of students, and pledged to remain committed to addressing students' issues, with a focus on improving infrastructure and ensuring better treatment from staff.

History has been created today. History has been changed – it's all because of our work. Pretense and ego have been defeated. As a student of Law Faculty, I assure all the students that I will stand by them as they have made me victorious. Infrastructure and behavior of staff towards students will be the top priority.

NSUI, the student wing of the Indian National Congress (INC), celebrated its resurgence after a gap of seven years, securing the post of joint secretary with NSUI's Lokesh Chaudhary defeating ABVP's Aman Kapasia by over 6,700 votes. NSUI claimed the President and Joint Secretary posts, while ABVP retained the Vice President and Secretary posts.

ABVP's Bhanu Pratap Singh secured the vice-president post, while Mitravinda Karnawal retained the secretary post with 16,703 votes. In previous years, the ABVP had dominated by winning three of the four central panel seats, while the NSUI was able to capture only the vice-president post. The announcement of the election results, originally scheduled for 28 September, was postponed due to concerns of distortion during the campaign. This year's election saw stiff competition, with 21 candidates contesting for the four central panel posts.
