NADA suspended Bajrang Punia for 4 years
Spots: The National Anti-Doping Agency has banned Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia for four years. In March he refused to provide a sample for doping testing. Therefore NADA had to take this big decision. His suspension will begin from April 23, 2024.
NADA had initially suspended Bajrang Punia for this offense on April 23. Later the UWW also suspended him. After this Bajrang appealed for his suspension. In response, NADA's Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel (ADDP) dropped the doping charges on 31 May. Unless NADA issues an indictment. After this, NADA issued a notice to Bajrang on 23 June.
The Board holds the athlete responsible for punishment in accordance with Article 10.3.1. He will be banned for 4 years. Bajrang was earlier temporarily suspended. In this case, the suspension of these four people will start from the date of sending the notice. Due to this ban, Bajrang cannot return to competitive wrestling and cannot apply for coaching training abroad.
Indian representative Bajrang Punia won the bronze medal in the Olympic wrestling competition in Tokyo. However, he took part in the protests against former Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. They also protested at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Later he joined Congress along with wrestler Vinesh Phogat and took charge of All India Kisan Congress. Meanwhile, Vinesh was elected MP from Jholana, Haryana.
