The Indian Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the arrest of Chinmay Krishna Das. He has appealed to the Bangladesh government to ensure the security of Hindus and all minorities. After the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das, massive protests started in Bangladesh. To stop this demonstration, tear gas shells were fired on a large scale and lathicharge was also done, in which more than 50 people were injured. Chinmay Krishna Das was detained by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 4:30 pm last Monday. On Tuesday, he was produced before Chittagong's sixth metropolitan magistrate Kazi Shariful Islam amid tight security. However, his bail plea was rejected and he was sent to jail. According to media reports, he has been accused of treason.
Meanwhile, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs expressed concern over the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement, “We have contacted Chinmoy Krishna Das, who is also the spokesperson of Sanatan Jagran Jyoti including Bangladesh. Expressed deep concern over his arrest and denial of bail. The incident follows several attacks on Hindus and other minorities by extremist elements in Bangladesh. “There have been several reported cases of arson and looting of minority houses and business establishments as well as theft and vandalism and desecration of deities and temples.”
