Ranchi: NIA's wanted Naxalite Chhotu Kharwar, carrying a reward of Rs 15 lakh, was killed. Chhotu Kharwar was killed in a mutual fight in Nawadih of Latehar late on Tuesday night. He was wanted by NIA and Jharkhand Police for a long time.

Chhotu Kharwar was murdered by his own comrades in a mutual fight. Chhotu Kharwar was an accused in more than 100 crimes. Apart from Latehar, many cases were registered against him in other districts also. Jharkhand Police was searching for Chhotu Kharwar in the case of murder of four policemen in Chandwa. NIA had kept a reward of Rs 3 lakh on Chhotu. It is believed that Chhotu was murdered by his associates in Bhimpav forest of Chhipadohan police station area due to levy transaction.

Naxalite commander Chhotu Kharwar was a resident of Chhipadohan area. After Operation Octopus on Budhapahar, Chhotu Kharwar took command of the Maoist organization. Maoists under the leadership of Chhotu Kharwar were active in the areas of Gumla, Lohardaga and Latehar. Chhotu Kharwar was in-charge of the Cuckoo and Shankh zone of the Maoists. Police had received information that the Maoists who had escaped from Budhapahar area had joined Chhotu Kharwar. In recent times, Chhotu Kharwar carried out many violent incidents for Levi. Whereas in Chhipadohar area of Latehar, he had also killed a daily wage worker.
