At the peak of his career, this actor quit Bollywood forever, and now he resides in the hills of Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. Can you guess which actor we are talking about?

This actor is the cousin of Aamir Khan. Still, couldn’t guess which actor we were discussing. It is none other than Masoor Khan. At present, Mansoor is settled in the beautiful hills of Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. Many may not know that it was Mansoor’s ambition to start a cheese farm and a farm stay once he parted ways from the film industry.
From filmmaking to farming, Mansoor Khan’s journey
For those who don’t know Mansoor Khan was born into a family with a deep understanding of films. His father was a renowned filmmaker Nasir Hussain, and his cousin, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan was one of the well-known names in the film industry. They played an important role in Mansoor’s life. Despite having a boom in his film career, Mansoor’s inner thoughts made him believe that he was made for a different purpose. He believed that his calling was not for movies and he had a different path.
During a conversation with India Now and How YouTube channel, Mansoor Khan revealed his early life. “The thing that most people don’t understand, because they know me as a successful filmmaker, is how I could leave all the fame and money behind. But, way before that, when I was in the US in 1978, I already knew that I didn’t want to live in Bombay.”
How did Mansoor Khan end up on farms?
During the interview, Mansoor revealed how he ended up doing cheese farming once he exited Bollywood. He said, “It wasn’t something that happened suddenly. It was a pre-determined plan. The only question was when I’d be able to escape. I count myself lucky because so many young people come to my farm and ask how I was able to do this in a place without medical facilities… I told them that they didn’t have to move to Coonoor; I just didn’t want to be in the city. This is heaven, but even an open field is good enough for me.”
For Mansoor, Bollywood was never the first choice, leaving the film industry was never a tough decision for Mansoor, since he was not interested in making films in the first place. Mansoor added, “I’m a very good convincer… She used to make cakes there, and she had a business with Aamir’s first wife, Reena. She said, ‘You’re pulling me out of here just when I found my vocation in life’, and she asked me what she would do here. I told her, ‘See, you make very good cakes, but everybody and their aunt and uncle make cakes here, so you need to make something different’.”
This is how Mansoor and his wife Tina began their journey of cheese-farming. However, Mansoor made sure that his wife was happy in Coonoor, otherwise, he wasn’t planning to settle down for years in the business. Although Mansoor works as a farmer, he also works as a non-fiction writer. He would choose these two options rather than sitting and talking about films. Mansoor said, “I don’t want to talk about my films, what nonsense. How does it matter? How does it matter that I made a film that made people cry and laugh when all the birds and rivers are dead? How does it matter? It’s a chauvinistic point of view to give literature and art and cinema such importance.”
