Deputy CM took major action on Jhansi Medical College fire, removed the Principal and suspended him
Jhansi. Major action has been taken in the case of death of infants in the recent fire incident at Maharani Lakshmibai Medical College in Jhansi. Taking major action, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak has taken this action on the basis of the investigation report of the four-member committee formed. Deputy CM removed the principal of the college. Also, the Chief Medical Superintendent of the college has been chargesheeted and three others have been suspended.

Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak has told about this action. He said, taking cognizance of the unfortunate and tragic incident of fire in Jhansi Medical College, as per the instructions given by me, a 4-member committee was constituted by the Principal Secretary, Medical Education under the chairmanship of the Director General, Medical Education and an investigation was conducted. After receiving the investigation report, I conducted a thorough review and took strict action against some of the officers found guilty in the incident. The suffering of the people is our suffering and the government always stands with them.
He further said, the Principal of Maharani Lakshmibai Medical College, Jhansi has been attached to the Directorate General of Medical Education, Lucknow. Also, charge sheet has been given to the Chief Superintendent of the Medical College, immediately suspending her. At the same time, charge sheet was given to the associate professor of radio therapy department and the chief medical superintendent. The nursing sister in-charge of NICU ward has been suspended and charge sheet has been given. Divisional Commissioner Jhansi has been made the investigating officer by giving charge sheet to Professor and Head of Department, Pediatrics Department and Associate Professor Surgery Department and Officer-in-Charge, Vidyut Maharani Lakshmibai Medical College, Jhansi. Along with this, the Junior Engineer (Electrical) of Maharani Laxmibai Medical College, Jhansi has been suspended and chargesheet has also been given.
This was the incident
On November 15, ten children died in a fire in the NICU ward of Maharani Lakshmibai Medical College, Jhansi. Immediately after the accident, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak reached the spot and consoled the victims' families and also assured action against the culprits.
