In his resignation letter, he said, “As you may be aware, I had resigned from the post of Minister in the Government of Delhi (GNCTD) on November 17. On the same day, I had also resigned from the primary membership of the Aam Aadmi Party. The main reason for this was It was that AAP had started deviating from its moral values, which made it difficult for me to continue.” He said, “I am resigning from the Delhi Assembly.” Kailash Gehlot resigned as Delhi Transport Minister on 17 November and left AAP, joining BJP the next day.

Gehlot met Union Health Minister and BJP president JP Nadda on Friday and discussed preparations for the Delhi Assembly elections to be held early next year. After joining the BJP, Gehlot explained his decision to leave AAP by citing the gradual weakening of the party's values ​​and principles.

Speaking to ANI, he said, “It doesn't happen overnight; it takes time to understand some things. I have said time and again that we are bound by certain values ​​and principles. When I saw those values ​​weakening, I I gathered the courage to leave. There are many others like me who have not found the courage yet. I think they will continue.” Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) released its first list of 11 candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections. The list includes candidates from seats like Chhatarpur, Kirari, Vishwas Nagar, Rohtash Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Badarpur, Seelampur, Seemapuri, Ghonda, Karawal Nagar and Matiala. AAP registered a landslide victory in the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, winning 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP won eight.
