Donald Trump handed over big responsibility to another Indian, Jai Bhattacharya gets command of NIH, know about him

Washington :US President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Indian-American scientist Jai Bhattacharya as the director of the 'National Institutes of Health' (NIH), one of the country's top health research and funding institutes. With this, Bhattacharya has also become the first Indian-American to be nominated by Trump for a top administrative post.

Let us inform you that, earlier, Trump had chosen Indian-American Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the newly formed Government Efficiency Department along with Tesla company owner Elon Musk. This is a voluntary position and does not require confirmation by the US Senate.

In this regard, Trump announced, “I am Jai Bhattacharya, M.D., Ph.D. It is a great pleasure to nominate Dr. Richards as Director of the NIH. Dr. Bhattacharya Robert F. Kennedy Jr., will work to guide the nation's medical research and inspire important discoveries that improve health and save lives.”

Trump selected Jamieson Greer as US Trade Representative (USTR) and Kevin A. Hassett has been appointed director of the White House National Economic Council. Trump said in a separate statement that Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, Kevin A. Hassett was instrumental in passing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.

According to the report of Washington Post, Jayant Bhattacharya is currently a policy professor at Stanford University in the US. He is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economics Research at the university. Jayant was born in 1968 in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. Bhattacharya received his MD degree from Stanford University School of Medicine in 1997.

In the year 2000, he obtained PHD degree in Economics Department from the same university. He has been working here since 2011. He has the separate responsibility of Director of the Center for Economics in addition to Demography of Health and Aging.
