Mumbai Mumbai. Actress Jiah Khan died by suicide in her apartment in Juhu, Mumbai on 3 June 2013. Later, Khan's boyfriend, actor Sooraj Pancholi, was arrested on charges of abetment of suicide based on a six-page suicide note, which mentioned her strained relationship with Pancholi. However, he got bail after 22 days in jail. In 2023, a special CBI court in Mumbai acquitted Pancholi in the Khan suicide case due to “lack of evidence”. Now, Sooraj's mother, actress Zarina Wahab has opened up on Jiah's death and revealed that before meeting her son, she had attempted suicide 4-5 times.
He told Lehren in an interview, “He had tried 4-5 times before, but luck was such that when it was my son's turn, it happened.” Furthermore, he said that Sooraj's career was ruined after he was in jail in connection with Jiah's suicide. She said, “We have all gone through bad times, but I believe in one thing: 'If you ruin someone's life by lying, take it like a loan; you will get it back with interest.' That's what karma says. We waited when he was not guilty.
“It took 10 years, but he has come out of it, and I am happy. It has affected Sooraj's career. Everyone knows what he used to do, I don't want to open my mouth. I don't want to belittle myself in speaking. Want to do,” said the Dil Dhadakne Do actress.
