Jasprit Bumrah gets good news after 8-wicket haul in first Test against Australia
Jasprit Bumrah, who took 8 wickets in the first Test against Australia, went past Kagiso Rabada and Josh Hazlewood to regain the top rank in the Test. He was named the Player of the Match for his spell at the Optus Stadium.
India defeated Australia by 295 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. Before the series opener, Bumrah was third in the ICC Test Rankings for bowlers. The pacer now has 883 ranking points, toppling Rabada (872 points) and Hazlewood (860 points).
Mohammed Siraj has gained several spots and is currently ranked 25th following his five wickets against the Pat Cummins-led team.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is now the no.2 batter in the world after he amassed 161 runs. The southpaw has 825 points and is behind Joe Root, who continues to lead the rankings with 903 points.
Virat Kohli, who dropped out of the top 20 after a long time following a 93-run series against New Zealand, has gained nine spots to reach 13th place after scoring a hundred in the second innings of the first Test against Australia. Rishabh Pant is in the sixth spot with 736 points.
