SC reprimands Himachal government for refusing to give job to Asian Games gold medalist
New Delhi: The Supreme Court today asked the Himachal Pradesh government over its alleged refusal to provide job to an Asian Games gold medalist under the sports quota, do you encourage sportspersons in this way? In this regard, Justice Abhay S. A bench of Justices Oka and Augustine George Masih took exception to the fact that 2014 Asian Games gold medalist Pooja Thakur had to wander from place to place for years for her job.
Today the bench said, “Is this how you encourage the players?” Someone has won a gold medal in the 2014 Asian Games, your Chief Minister should have a practical approach…this is the state's approach towards sportspersons?”

Also today, the apex court dismissed the appeal filed by the Himachal Pradesh government against the appointment of Pooja Thakur to the post of Excise and Taxation Officer, which was effective from the date of her application to the Chief Minister in July 2015.
Pooja won the gold medal in Kabaddi during the Asian Games held in Incheon, South Korea in 2014. He also won a silver medal in the 2015 National Games.

Let us inform that, in its appeal, the state government had challenged the order of 2023 of the division bench of the High Court, in which the order of the single judge appointing Thakur to this post was upheld.
Then on this matter, the High Court had said that the state officials were not happy with the fact that Pooja Thakur had allegedly approached her for appointment to the post of Class I by filing two original applications and they were angry with this. .
