Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres return to training before Las Palmas clash

New Delhi: Barcelona have been one of the strongest sides in this season’s La Liga and one of the strongest contenders to lift the trophy. As the side prepares to face Las Palmas this weekend, their fitness worries are going to get less as Hansi Flick’s side welcomes back Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres.

According to media sources, Yamal and Torres have resumed regular training with the team ahead of Saturday’s clash. Yamal has been on the sidelines since the start of November after suffering an ankle injury in his side’s fixture against Crvena Zvezda during the UEFA Champions League.

Though the 17-year-old’s injury was not deemed dangerous, Blaugrana opted for caution as a similar problem had kept Frenkie de Jong out of action for a prolonged period of time. At the start of this week, Yamal had resumed partial training and now has taken with the entire squad. In 16 appearances for Barca this season, the winger already has six goals and eight assists to his name across competitions. Yamal also became the youngest ever to be awarded the Golden Boy award yesterday.

Along with Yamal, Ferran too was back training having been on the sidelines since early part of October after he had hamstring troubles during Barca’s game against Deportivo Alaves. The forward trained hard for his recovery and even was spotted training during off days for a comeback after the international break.

The former Manchester City forward had previously done parts of training sessions. Ferran has now trained with the entire squad and is looking well for a return to the squad during the Las Palmas game. Also part of the training session was Ronald Araujo who hasn’t played for Barca after sustaining an injury during the Copa America 2024. Though the Uruguayan is looking to regain complete fitness, a return this weekend may be unlikely.
