Bangalore will host the auction for the 2025 season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) on December 15.
After the recent ‘retentions’ exercise, each of the five franchises has a total budget of INR 15 crore to build their squads, and this is an increase from INR 13.5 crore last year.
Several top international players will line up in the mini-auction for a chance to get picked up for the 2025 season.
These include English skipper Heather Knight, the Kiwi pacer Lea Tahuhu, and West Indies allrounder Deandra Dottin.
Amongst the Indians, prominent names will include batter Veda Krishnamurthy, legspinner Poonam Yadav, and allrounder Sneh Rana.
Gujarat Giants have the largest available purse with INR 4.4 Crore. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals have the smallest purse with INR 2.5 Crore.
Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), all have 4 player slots left while UP Warriorz have 3.
Defending champions RCB are left with a purse of INR 3.25 Crore.
The third edition of the five-team tournament will be played over a three-week window in February-March 2025.
