Increase the number of skill development centers in Laksar, Bhagwanpur and Roorkee areas: District Magistrate – ..


Haridwar, 28 November (HS). While reviewing the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana, the District Magistrate directed to work on priority for skill development and economic empowerment of the traditional craftsmen and artisans of the district.

District Magistrate Karmendra Singh said that while giving priority to the traditional craftsmen of the district, arrangements should be made for skill development training for women in rural areas and the number of skill development centers should be increased in areas like Laksar, Bhagwanpur, Roorkee etc. Villagers should be made aware about training and schemes, and those villagers who are less educated should be helped in making their applications online. He directed that the report along with the reasons for all the Gram Panchayats which have not been onboarded should be made available to the General Manager Industries.

In the meeting, General Manager Industries Uttam Kumar Tiwari told that 55 gram panchayats have not been onboarded under PM Vishwakarma Scheme. He said that 3033 people have registered for training under the scheme and 1459 people have been identified for tool kit. Four centers are being operated for training, in which 918 persons in 33 batches have been given skill development training in various trades.

Chief Development Officer Akanksha Conde, General Manager Industries Uttam Kumar Tiwari, LDM Sanjay Sant, Block Development Officer Jayendra Bhardwaj, Alok and related officers were present in the meeting.
