Amazing! After 17 years, Mumbai Police caught the accused of murder from Bengal, had taken the life of the young man by stabbing him with a knife.

Mumbai: Police in Maharashtra's capital Mumbai have arrested a 17-year-old murder accused absconding from West Bengal. The arrested 47-year-old Rajib Kalu Haji Shaikh is accused of murdering his business partner Nilanchal Panigrahi in 2007. This arrest is being seen as a major success for the detection team of Cuffe Parade Police Station.

This is the whole matter

According to the information received, the accused Rajib Kalu Haji Shaikh had stabbed his partner and Odisha resident Nilanchal Panigrahi to death at his house in Ganesh Murti Nagar due to a money dispute, after which he was absconding since 2007. After unsuccessful attempts by police teams to catch him in the years 2007, 2008 and 2020, the investigation team has got success for the fourth time.

He was a friend of Murshidabad resident Sheikh Panigrahi and was a partner in the business of painting contract work. When the incident occurred in October 2007, the accused and the victim were drinking alcohol at Panigrahi's house. During this time his wife was cooking food at home. At that time, due to a money dispute, Sheikh stabbed Panigrahi in the stomach, due to which he fell on the ground drenched in blood.

His wife hurriedly took him to St. George Hospital. But, he died the next day on 16 October. Sheikh was booked under IPC section 302 (murder). The murder weapon (a kitchen knife) was recovered by the police at the same time.

The investigating officer said, the area from which the accused comes is close to the border of Bangladesh. Therefore he used to disappear to avoid arrest. This has happened many times when the police team had gone to arrest him. Recently, during the arrest, our team was surrounded by angry locals and villagers. The situation was risky, but with the help of the local police, we brought the accused to Mumbai on transit remand. Sheikh has been sent to police custody.
