Cruelty against Muslims in India…Bangladesh responded to India

New Delhi: Bangladesh on Friday said India was adopting “double standards” on the protection of minority communities and also accused the neighboring country's media of running a “very large-scale propaganda campaign” against Dhaka. Amid the controversy over the arrest of Hindu leader Chinmoy Krishna Das on charges of treason, Asif Nazrul, legal affairs advisor to the interim government of Bangladesh, made a post on social media saying that India's undue concern about Bangladesh continues.

Nazrul wrote in the post that “Countless incidents of cruelty towards the minority Muslim community continue to happen in India but he has no remorse or embarrassment (over those incidents). This double standard of India is condemnable and objectionable. Most Bangladeshis (64.1%) believe that the interim government is capable of providing better security to the country's minority communities than the previous Awami League government.

Attack on Hindus in Bangladesh

Hindus are being continuously persecuted in Bangladesh. The case of arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das associated with ISKCON had not even cooled down when once again Hindus were targeted. According to the information, two Hindu temples were attacked by extremists in Chantgaon. After this attack, minority Hindus had to take shelter in safe places to escape. The attack took place after Friday prayers at Radha Govind Temple and Shantaneshwari Matri Temple located near Chantagaon Police Station. It is alleged that the Bangladesh police did not even try to stop the extremists.

The incidents of atrocities on Hindus have increased since the political upheaval in Bangladesh in August. Since Sheikh Hasina left the country, 200 Hindu temples have been targeted so far. It is noteworthy that Sheikh Hasina has just taken refuge in India. He had also criticized the government in the Chinmoy Krishna Das case.
