Stocks in News Today: Ambuja Cements, Adani Energy, MRPL, ITC, Vodafone Idea and more

Mumbai: The Sensex on Tuesday closed 1,064.12 points lower at 80,684.45, while the Nifty declined 332.25 points to close at 24,336. Indian indices remained in flux owing to uncertainty around rate cuts by the US Federal Reserve. Despite expectation so a 25 bos rate cut, investors are cautious about a hawkish tone being taken by the US FOMC, according to Geojit Financial Services’ research head Vinod Nair.

FIIs were in selling mode as they sold equities worth Rs 278.70 crore on Monday, show exchange data. Brent crude prices were down 0.50 per cent to $73.58 a barrel on Tuesday. Here are stocks that are likely to remain in focus on Wednesday, December 18, 2024:

Granules India: The drugmaker’s unit Granules Pharma received the US health regulator’s nod for a generic medication which is used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, according to an exchange filing. US FDA gave its nod for Lisdexamfetamine Dimesylate chewable tablets, according to the filing.

Embassy Office Parks REIT: The real estate investment trust raised Rs 1,000 crore via non-convertible debentures (NCDs) to towards the repayment of an outstanding loan. The NCD carried a five-year coupon of 7.73 per cent.

Sonata Software: The company in an exchange filing announced the launch of its AI-powered test acceleration platform called Harmoni.AI.

Ambuja Cements: The company’s parent announced the merger of Sanghi Industries and Penna Cement, acquired recently by the ports-to-retail conglomerate, into Ambuja Cements. This will consolidate the group’s cement holdings in one entity as it gears up to compete with segment leader and Aditya Birla Group arm UltraTech Cements.

Adani Energy Solutions: The company has formed a new entity, Adani Energy Solutions Step-Eleven,  for transmission, distribution and power supply operations, it said in a regulatory filing. The new company is yet to commence business operations, according to the statement.

Solar power gencos: The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on Tuesday closed the deferment of has customs duty for solar power generation companies (gencos) that are using imported goods to store and supply power.

Jindal Saw: The company said it had inked an agreement for the acquisition  of a 31.20 per cent stake in ReNew Green Energy, without sharing the financial details fo the deal.

Dish TV: The ZEE Group company’s functioning is not affected by the tussle between the promoters and shareholders said DishTV CEO and Executive Director Manoj Dobhal on Tuesday.

MRPL: The PSU announced that it had commissioned a new bitumen production unit, using the latest ‘Biturox’ technology with an annual output of 1,50,000 metric tonnes.

Cola companies: FMCG distributors’ representative body, the All India Consumer Products Distributors Federation urged the Centre to avoid proposals to hike GST on aerated drinks to 35 per cent. Earlier, the Centre had rejected reports suggested changes in GST slabs of myriad goods and services.

ITC : The cigarettes to FMCG conglomerate fixed January 1, 2025, as the date when the demerger of its hotel business comes into effect, according to an exchange filing.

Maruti Suzuki India: The carmaker reportedly crossed the milestone of producing 20 lakh units in a calendar year for the first time ever in 2024, it said in an exchange filing.

Vodafone Idea: The telco plans to consolidate its position in Kolkata and Rest of Bengal (RoB) circles, it said. The strategy will be spearheaded by ane expansion of its 4G network in the circle.

Tata Motors: The Tata Group company said it had secured an order to produce 1,297 bus chassis from the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC), making it the third such order this year from the UP state government undertaking.

Kalpataru Projects International: The power sector construction firm said it had raised around Rs 1,000 crore via share issuance. The company issued 83.26 lakh shares priced at Rs 1,201 apiece via qualified institutional placement (QIP).
