sarso ka saag

This is a light and nutritious khichdi, made from moong dal and rice. You can prepare and eat it to lose weight.

1 cup rice
1 cup moong dal
1 tbsp mustard greens
1 teaspoon cumin
1 pinch asafoetida
Ginger
2 green chillies
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
4-5 curry leaves
1 tbsp ghee
2 cups water
Salt

Wash and soak rice and lentils: Wash rice and moong dal and soak them in water for 15-20 minutes.
Heat ghee in a pan, add mustard greens and fry. When the mustard starts cooking, add cumin, asafoetida, ginger, green chilli and curry leaves.
Now add turmeric, coriander powder and red chilli. Mix well.
Now add soaked rice and pulses, add some salt and 2 cups of water, cover and let it cook.
Let the water cook completely in the khichdi, when the khichdi is cooked, add ghee and mix.
Finally Sarso Khichdi is ready, serve it hot.

Poi Saag Recipes

Poi ka saag is a very popular dish in Bengal. This recipe is made with desi spices and lemon juice.

2 cups poi ka saag (raw leaves)
1 onion
2 tomatoes
2-3 green chillies
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
half teaspoon cumin
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon dry mango powder
1 teaspoon oil
Salt

First of all, wash and clean the poi greens thoroughly and remove the thick stalks.
Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds in it. Then add ginger-garlic paste and green chilli and fry.
Now add onion and fry. When the onion turns light brown, add tomatoes and mix well with the spices.
After this, add washed and prepared poi greens and let it cook for 2-3 minutes.
Add turmeric, coriander powder, mango powder and salt to the greens and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Once the greens are cooked, serve it with roti or rice.

Bathua leaves contain more fiber and nutrients, which help you in losing weight.

1 cup pigeon peas
1 cup bathua leaves
1 tsp cumin
1 pinch asafoetida
1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
2 chopped green chillies
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 chopped tomato

Wash arhar dal and boil it in the cooker till it gets cooked well. Also wash Bathua leaves and cut them into small pieces.
Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin, asafoetida, and ginger-garlic paste.
When all the spices are roasted well, add tomatoes and let them cook.
Add bathua leaves along with tomatoes in the mixture and fry.
Now add this mixture to the cooked dal, mix well and let it cook on medium flame.
Your dal will be ready in some time. You can serve it with roti or rice.

Chaulai ka saag is made with less spices and less oil, which helps in weight loss.

2 cups amaranth leaves
1 teaspoon cumin
1 tsp celery
1 pinch asafoetida
1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
2 chopped green chillies
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon oil

First of all, wash the amaranth leaves thoroughly and cut them. Now heat oil in the pan, add cumin, celery and asafoetida.

Then add one spoon ginger-garlic paste and green chilli and fry. Now add turmeric, coriander powder, chilli powder and salt and fry.
Then add amaranth leaves in it and let it cook on medium flame for 5 minutes.
When the saag becomes soft, serve it with roti or rice.

Spinach is rich in iron and fiber, which is beneficial for people looking to lose weight.

First of all, remove the stalks of spinach leaves and cut them into small pieces.
Boil water in a pan and add spinach leaves to it and boil for 2-3 minutes, so that it becomes slightly soft.
Then take out the leaves from water, drain them well and grind them in a mixer.
Now add 1 teaspoon oil in the pan and heat it. Add cumin and asafoetida in it, when cumin starts crackling, add chopped green chilli and ginger paste and fry.
After this, add chopped onion and tomato and fry till it becomes golden. After some time, add turmeric, coriander powder and chilli powder and mix well.
After some time, add spinach paste to the mixture, add water and cook on gas for some time.
When the greens are cooked, add salt to it and add lemon juice as per taste and mix.
Your recipe will be ready in some time. You can eat it with roti.
