Sports Desk: Ravichandran Ashwin has retired from his 14-year-long international career. He announced his retirement in the press conference held after the India vs Australia Gabba Test draw. In his historic career, he has taken more than 700 wickets, scored more than 4 thousand runs and played 6 century innings. After which now this question must be arising in the minds of people whether Ashwin has retired from IPL also?

The Gabba Test has been canceled due to rain, after which R Ashwin said in his retirement speech, “This is my last day as an Indian player in all formats of international cricket. I believe that I still have the hunger for cricket, so now I would like to showcase my skills in club level cricket. I have enjoyed this journey a lot, I have shared a lot of memories with Rohit and other teammates. However, many of those comrades have left me years ago.”

Ashwin further said, “Only a select few of the old players are left in the team. I believe this is the end of my cricket career at this level. There are many people I want to thank. I express my gratitude to BCCI and all my colleagues. I will name some of them. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, who were top level cricketers during my journey. Also gratitude to the Australian cricket team, which has always played competitive cricket. I really enjoyed the game of cricket against him.”

Ashwin has said in his retirement speech that he is retiring only from all three formats of international cricket i.e. Test, ODI and T20 cricket. He will continue to play franchise and club cricket. Let us remind you that in the mega auction of IPL 2025, he was bought by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 9.75 crore. This will be the first time since 2015 that Ashwin will play for CSK.
