We bring you a list of every car and SUV that is currently available for sale in India that has been tested under Global NCAP's new testing protocol that came into effect in July 2022. Global NCAP's new crash test protocols come into effect in July 2022. Since then, the organization has tested models manufactured in India under the new standards. Compared to the last 10 years, when the “Safe Cars for India” campaign started, more cars and SUVs have now scored better in crash tests.

Citroen eC3 – 0 stars (20.86 points)
Global NCAP is unlikely to conduct more crash tests on Indian-made models going forward as India has launched its own Bharat NCAP safety assessment program and started testing cars. Recently, before testing the fourth generation Dzire, Global NCAP had subjected the older Honda Amaze, Kia Carens and Mahindra Bolero Neo to rigorous crash tests. In this test, the Citroen eC3 received 0 stars.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis – 1 star (16.48 points)
In response to the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Maruti's Ignis scored 19.19 points in the adult occupant safety test. In this test, Maruti's Ignis has received a 1-star rating. For the side deformable barrier test, it scored 12.9 points out of 17, while for the COP it scored 16.68 points out of a possible 49. Global NCAP also noted that the footwell and bodyshell were unstable and it did not meet the pedestrian protection standard.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R – 1 star (19.69 points)
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R scored 19.69 points in AOP, giving it a 1-star rating. It did not pass the side pole impact test because it did not have curtain airbags and did not comply with pedestrian protection standards. The Wagon R received a zero-star rating for child safety and scored only 3.40 points in COP.

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso – 1 Star (20.03 points)
The Maruti S-Presso scored 20.03 points in AOP, giving it a 1-star rating. It scored 11.9 out of 17 in the side deformable crash test, but did not undergo the pole-impact test due to the lack of side head protection. At the COP, it scored only 3.52 out of 49, giving it a zero-star rating.

Mahindra Bolero Neo – 1 Star (20.26 points)
Mahindra's Bolero Neo was built on an old platform and its structure was found to be unstable. The car also had side-facing third-row seats, earning it a 1-star rating of 20.26 points. It scored 12.71 in COP, giving it a 1-star rating. The Bolero Neo is rated 1-star (12.71/49 points) for child safety. Global NCAP noted the absence of three-point seat belts for all passengers, lack of passenger airbag deactivation switch and only a single CRS.

Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 – 2 stars (21.67 points)
Maruti's smallest car, Alto K10 scored 21.67 points in AOP and received a 2-star rating. It scored 12.4 out of 17 in the side deformable barrier test. At COP, it scored only 3.52, giving it a zero-star rating. As far as child safety is concerned, the Alto K10 scored only 3.52/49, giving it a zero-star rating. Standard safety features in the Alto K10 include double airbags and seat belt reminder.

Honda Amaze – 2 stars (27.85 points)
Honda Amaze scored 27.85/34 points and received a 2-star rating in AOP. At the COP, it scored 8.58 out of 49, giving it a zero-star rating. Whether the recent updates to the Amaze's safety kit will help it get better scores from GNCAP is not yet known. The India NCAP safety assessment program has been inaugurated, meaning it is unlikely to be tested again by the international organisation.

Kia Carens – 3 stars (22.07 points)
Kia's small three-line MPV, the Carens, scored 22.07 points in AOP and received a 3-star rating; However, it received a zero-star rating in AOP in the first test, which was later revised. Carens' child occupancy score was 41 out of 49, giving it a 5-star rating in this area. Kia's MPV comes with six airbags, ESC, rear parking sensors, hill-start assist, rear disc brake, three-point seat belts for all seats and ISOFIX anchors as standard.
