Aligarh: After Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh, now a Shivalinga was recovered from the debris of an old temple on the roadside in Sarai Rehman, a Muslim-dominated area of ​​Bannadevi area of ​​Aligarh district, today i.e. on Wednesday, after which the local police and administration had to intervene. After the Shivalinga was found from the debris, local Hindu organizations including Bajrang Dal and Karni Sena demanded the restoration of the temple.

Bajrang Dal member Mayank Kumar, who reached the spot after hearing the news in this regard, said that the temple was abandoned for about five decades and was being used as a 'dumping ground'. “During the cleaning operation, a Shivalinga was found buried under the debris of broken bricks near the temple,” Kumar said.

In view of the recovery of Shivalinga, a large group of local people and activists gathered there, after which the police reached the spot to maintain peace in the area. According to Karni Sena official Gyanendra Pratap Singh, a delegation consisting of Additional District Magistrate (city) and Superintendent of Police (city) submitted the memorandum.

In this memorandum issued, it was alleged that the temple premises were allegedly used illegally. In this, there was a demand to take strict action against the culprits and renovate the temple. “It is a matter of heritage and faith,” Singh told reporters. Those who allowed this temple to be misused must be held accountable.”

On this matter, Superintendent of Police (SP) Mrigank Shekhar Pathak said that investigation is going on. SP Pathak said, “The incident is being thoroughly investigated and if it is found that unauthorized persons were misusing the premises, action will be taken against them.”

On the matter, Aligarh Police also said that, to prevent the situation from worsening, local authorities have implemented precautionary measures and further action will be taken after the investigation is completed. Recently, several cases related to the temple-mosque dispute have been filed in various courts in Uttar Pradesh, including Gyanvapi Masjid of Varanasi, Shahi Idgah Masjid of Mathura, Shahi Jama Masjid of Sambhal, Jama Masjid Shamsi of Badaun, Atala Masjid of Jaunpur. In this regard, the petitioners have claimed that these mosques were built after the destruction of ancient temples and have requested to allow Hindus to worship there. On November 24, four people lost their lives and several others, including security personnel, were injured in violence during protests against the court order of survey in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh.
